About Gretchen

Born and raised in Alaska, I’ve bounced around the Northwest for most of my life.  I am currently located in Eugene, Oregon.

My talent base is a combination of theatre and photography, as a result your shots are guaranteed to have a dramatic slant.  I love working with the self proclaimed weirdos, and coming up with creative ways to express people’s art. Give me some funky lighting, and a group of circus freaks and I’m a happy girl. Throw a dog in there and I’m in photo heaven!

I’ve been studying photography since age 12 when I got my hands on a Nikon K1000 and an after school photography program. In high school I switched to Canon and was a member of an award winning yearbook photography staff. My interest in documentary photography continued through college. I have a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College.

Now I shoot in digital with a Canon 20D and a Canon XT. The switch to digital has been revolutionary for me. After many years of pshawing digital photography I am now embracing it.

Lately, I’ve been focusing my attentions on fine art photography and band/performance photography. Eugene has been great at helping me explore these aspects of the medium. I look forward to spending more time expanding these skills.

Thanks a lot for checking out my modest little blog. I would love comments, let me know that you stopped by, let me know what you like and what you don’t and of course, let me know if you’d like to work with me! You can contact me at gretchen@gretchendrewphotography.com
