While walking my dog the other day I came across this adding machine. Well, I think it’s an adding machine. It’s heavy, it has number keys, and I don’t have any idea how it works. I think it’s lovely nonetheless.
Did you place the bird and the branch on this, or was it mysteriously covered with items? (and yes, looks like an adding machine to me; the co-existence of all the pieces tells a really interesting story)
Michelle- I placed them all together. I started out with a different plan, and a bird cage. But the light wasn’t working, and this and that. Then Meredith asked what I do with my adding machine, and I realized I hadn’t shot it yet. They all come together. I’m still tweaking them a bit and may end up reshooting, but I like them all the same
this is one of the very endearing things about america that just does not happen in switzerland, and which i miss very much - on a walk, stumbling upon an old rusty adding machine. love it.

It’s called a “comptometer”. My grandmother still has hers on her desk, and uses it regularly.
